Crib Bedding

As you can see by the lack of decor posts on my blog, the decorating process is going very slow.

However, I did manage to pull together my first sewing project since I was in high school. I really wanted Ivy to have some bright colored bedding to go with the gift bag art I made. Her other bedskirt and bumper, although cute enough, were pastel pink. The colors are a bit more fun now:

Ivy's crib has these little diagonal metal bars on the edges for raising the mattress, so I had to keep a slit and put buttons on the edges in order to make the skirt fit right.

I got all the fabric from fabric.com (made by Premier Prints) for about $5/yard after using discount codes (I like using retailmenot.com), but the regular price was cheap to begin with. I took a little shortcut by buying a plain white IKEA bumper and sewing my fabric over it. Altogether, I spent about $35 on this project. Not bad. And I'm happy with the way it turned out.

Gift Bag Art

What do you do with all the cute bags and cards you get when you have a baby shower?

Well, here's one option . . .

I used these $5 IKEA frames, nailed on old leftover mat board, and glued the pieces of bags and cards onto the board. Thanks to everyone who contributed!
